How do I use the Online Store?

Use our Online Store to make purchases with your Visa, Mastercard, Discover, or American Express card safely and securely. Next to each item is an “Add to Cart” button. Click Add to Cart for items you’d like to buy. When you’re done, you can click “View Cart” found at the top at bottom of each store page and then proceed to checkout. Our shopping cart system is administered by PayPal.com, “the global standard for online payments”. If you have not already used PayPal, you simply enter your name, address, email, and credit card information and choose a password for future use. That’s all there is to it! Customers have told us that it’s even easier than paying at Amazon.com and other major online merchants (and we agree).

Can I order by phone instead?

Certainly! Just call us Toll Free at 877/397-5386 between 9am and 5pm ET, Monday - Friday. Once you place your order, we will email an invoice to you. In the email you will find a link to PayPal.com, “the global standard for online payments”. Just follow the link to pay with your credit card safely and securely. If you have not already used PayPal, you simply enter your name, address, email, and credit card information and choose a password for future use. That’s all there is to it! We are literally a “mom and pop” operation, so we may sometimes be away from the phone even during business hours. Please leave your name and number and a convenient time for us to call you. We will always get back to you as soon as we get your message - usually within an hour or so.

Is my personal information safe?

All your personal information, including your name, address and credit card number, is processed through the secure servers at PayPal. PayPal uses SSL technology to keep your information safe. PayPal is so secure that even we, a trusted retailer, never see your credit card information. PayPal puts your money in our account and then passes us only your name, address and payment total information - but no credit card information - so that we can ship your packages to you. Squirrel Tracks Wooden Trains does not share any of your personal information with anyone for any reason! (We do, of course, put your name and address on your packages so they’ll reach you).

What about sales tax?

Orders that ship outside North Carolina are not charged any sales tax. Orders that ship to North Carolina will automatically be charged state sales tax (currently 7%) during checkout. To keep things simple during checkout, Squirrel Tracks will pay the additional .5% Mecklenburg County Public Transportation sales and use tax for any orders shipping to Mecklenburg County (where sales tax totals 7.5%).

How will you ship my packages?

All our packages to addresses in the contiguous U.S. usually ship by FedEx Ground service unless otherwise requested. FedEx Ground service is economical, allowing us to keep the cost of shipping to you very low, fast, with standard 1-5 business day delivery in the U.S. and overnight service in select areas, and reliable, you can track your packages and see day-specific delivery information at www.fedex.com. There are also many excellent delivery options such as FedEx Date Certain Home Delivery, FedEx Evening Home Delivery and FedEx Appointment Home Delivery available for an additional charge in the Delivery Services section of our Online Store.

We ship to Hawaii, Alaska, and APO/FPO addresses via the U.S. Postal Service (USPS) or United Parcel Service (UPS). We ship to Canada via Federal Express, U.S. Postal Service (USPS) or United Parcel Service (UPS). Overnight and express services are available to Hawaii, Alaska and Canada (but not to APO/FPO addresses).

What do you charge for shipping?

Our shipping charges to addresses in the contiguous U.S. are based on your total purchase. Plus, we waive our already low shipping charges on any orders over $99.99! The following table shows our standard shipping charge, additional delivery options are available in the Delivery Services section of our Online Store. Shipping charges to Hawaiian, Alaskan, APO/FPO, and Canadian addresses are based on exact shipping charges for your proposed order. Please see Do you ship to Hawaii, Alaska, and APO/FPO addresses? below for more information on shipping charges to those states. Please see Do you ship internationally? below for more information on shipping charges for Canada.

How soon will I get my packages?

Usually we can ship in-stock items by the next business day. FedEx Ground service offers standard 1-5 business day delivery in the U.S. In plain English, this means you’ll probably get your packages about one week after you place your order. Additional delivery options are available in the Delivery Services section of our Online Store.

Can I get express delivery?

Yes! Depending on the FedEx Express Delivery option you choose, your package can be delivered overnight, 2- or 3-days following our shipping it out (we can usually ship in-stock items by the next business day). Since rates vary widely depending on the options you choose, the weight of your packages, and the distance, we ask that you please call us Toll Free at 877/397-5386 between 9am and 5pm ET, Monday through Friday to order items you want for FedEx Express Delivery.

We gladly ship to Hawaii, Alaska, and APO or FPO military addresses with U.S. Zip Codes, but due to constraints in how we assess shipping charges in our online ordering system, you must call or email us to place orders for shipment to those places. Alternatively, you can place your order online and we can send you an email invoice for the difference in shipping charges. We apologize to our Hawaiian, Alaskan, and military friends for this minor inconvenience! Shipping charges to Hawaiian, Alaskan, and military addresses are based on exact shipping charges for your proposed order. Orders over $99.99 receive a $10 discount on shipping charges.
